What is RAID?RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives. Put simply, this means taking multiple matching drives and arranging them together to achieve large storage space, speed, data protection, or any combination of the three. The MAXPower eSATA 6G RAID PCIe 2.0 Controller Card supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 levels as well as supporting JBOD (SPAN and individual drive modes).
  • RAID 0StripeData is split into blocks over two or more drives at same time for high speed and large capacity.
RAID 1MirrorData is written at same time to two drives only for highest level of data safety and redundancy.
  • RAID 101+0Data is Striped (RAID 0) over two Mirrored sets (RAID 1) of drives for fast redundancy.
JBODSPAN / N-RAIDThe physical drives are put together without RAID to form one logical volume.
  • RAID 5Stripe with ParityWith RAID 5, data is striped for speed like a RAID 0, but a duplication or parity is built in to protect your data from a single drive failure. This results in fast performance comparable to a RAID 0, but with the added benefit of protection.

RAID 5 incorporates striping of data just like in a RAID 0 array, however, in a RAID 5 there are redundant pieces of the data that are also distributed across the drives and are referred to as parity. Having the parity blocks staggered across each drive allows any single drive in the RAID 5 array to fail without any data loss.

Port MultiplierSupport for Up to 20 DrivesIn addition to supporting up to four single or dual eSATA enclosure, the MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card supports port multiplier enclosures to connect up to 5 drives into a single eSATA port. By supporting port multiplier enclosures, the MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card can provide massive storage and increased data protection by utilizing up to 20 drives for protective RAID arrays such as RAID 1, 10, & 5.
The ideal choice for high-speed, efficient, low-cost, RAID capable connectivity for the Mac or PC.
Adds Faster Than Factory Interface To Mac Pros, Great For PCs Too!
EsataFrom faster backups and file transfers to high-end Audio/Video editing, connecting an eSATA interface equipped device to the MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card can take data transfer performance to an entirely new level. Optimally compatible with Mac Pro models and PCs with an available PCIe 2.0 slot, the MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card works with ANY eSATA interfaced equipped external hard drive to deliver significantly faster data transfer rates over the fastest factory equipped Mac Pro interface of FireWire 800. Look at how 6Gb/s eSATA compares even to USB 3.0.RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives. Put simply, this means taking multiple matching drives and arranging them together to achieve large storage space, speed, data protection, or any combination of the three. The MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 levels; as well as supporting JBOD (SPAN and individual drive modes).
Maximum Bandwidth for Multiple eSATA Storage Solutions
With its PCIe 2.0 interface, the MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card provides two 500MB/s data lanes for a total card bandwidth of 1000MB/s. Now you can connect up to four 1.5Gb/s, 3Gb/s, and/or 6Gb/s external drives via eSATA and experience maximum data transfer rate throughput from each. The NewerTech RAID Web Management Utility is an easy-to-use web browser-based application to set up RAID arrays, manage connected drives, view storage health status, and view information about the connected storage devices. Future Ready Yet Fully Backward Compatible
The MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card is like a 'performance assurance policy' as conventional hard disk drives and SSDs migrate to the SATA 6Gb/s standard. Installing the card now offers immediate speeds gains while making a Mac Pro or PC future ready for even greater speed gains. Like all good upgrades, the card doesn't leave the past behind. The MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card is fully backward compatible with PCIe 1.0 slots as well as previous generations of SATA 1.5Gb/s and 3Gb/s drives. That's no problem for the MAXPower 4-Port eSATA RAID Card. By utilizing an external PCIe expansion chassis, you can use this card with any Mac or PC...even laptops.

Add Fast 6Gb/s eSATA and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Connectivity to Your Computer With One Adapter

Do you need to connect high-speed USB 3.0 and eSATA devices to your computer? Sonnet’s USB 3.0+eSATA Thunderbolt Adapter provides you a simple, economical way to simultaneously connect one USB 3.0 device plus one eSATA drive or card reader to any Mac® with a Thunderbolt 2 or Thunderbolt port, or Windows® computer with Thunderbolt 2 ports. Featuring 10Gbps Thunderbolt technology, this compact adapter connects directly to your computer or at the end of a Thunderbolt device chain with its built-in Thunderbolt cable to enable fast data transfers between your drives and computer.

USB 3.0 for Fast Performance and Common Connectivity

Most drives available today include USB 3.0 interfaces. Although you can connect them to the USB 2.0 ports on your computer, their performance would be reduced by as much as 85 percent! This useful adapter offers native USB 3.0 support to ensure great performance from the fast drives you connect, enabling data transfers at up to 350 MB/s. The USB 3.0 + Gigabit Ethernet Thunderbolt Adapter supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) support, ensuring that UASP-enabled external drives connected to the adapter achieve their maximum data transfer rate potential, with performance improved by up to 20% above the drive connected to a USB host without UASP support. Need to connect more than one drive? The adapter works with multi-drive enclosures(1) with hardware raid controllers, too. This adapter also supports hubs and other USB 3.0 devices, and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices(2). If your computer already has USB 3.0 onboard, this adapter provides another handy port.
